I successfully defended my dissertation on October 22, 2007. My dissertation focuses on suppressed and sanctioned message propagation in information restrictive environments. Since "noise" - as defined by Claude Shannon - is not often evident in human information systems,my study examined an extreme case, which is the use of clandestine radio broadcasting in national liberation struggle.
My approach shows the utility of an information science lens for examining what would ordinarily be seen as an object for study in political science or communication studies.
